Driving licences and vehicle registration certificates can be produced through mobile apps such as DigiLocker and mParivahan.
The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2019, which aims to enforce more strict penalties for road traffic violations in India, went into effect from this month. Don’t worry you have your smartphone backing you by using mobile applications like mParivahan and DigiLocker.Ministry has said that the electronic copy of the documents on Digilocker and mPerivahan app would be considered valid.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has issued an advisory to states to accept Driving Licence, Registration Certificate or other documents in ‘electronic form’ presented through DigiLocker or mParivahan platform as valid under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and treat them at par with the certificates issued by the transport authorities,” according to the ministry’s statement.
So let’s find out how to use these applications for generating valid documents
Download mParivahan app from play store and let it install after installation the app interface will look like this. So the next step would be to skip and go to the main page.
In the main page select RC and then enter vehicle number in the search box and similarly select DL and then enter the driving license number in the search box to search details.
After putting valid document number the search result will appear like this.
Download & install Digilocker from the play store and signup account with mobile number and email id from the main page. After signing up the main page will show the link which directs to the 1. Driving license and 2. Vehicle registration document page.
Go to the driving license page by clicking the 1st link put the driving license number in the box and click get the document button. Now go to the issued tab in the main page and search for the driving license document. Once by clicking the driving license document will open and it will show Digilocker verified which is a valid document as per Indian ministry.
Now the same procedure can be replicated for the vehicle registration also.

These electronic records available on DigiLocker or mParivahan are deemed to be legally recognized at par with the original documents as per the provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
