Google Search Dark Theme is Officially being rolled out for desktop Users

Google has finally rolled out a dark mode for Search on desktop. Previously dark theme was available for chrome browser but the google search results were not included. Google had officially rolled out a night mode for Search apps on Android and iOS in May last year. The Dark Mode helps reduce eye strain by keeping a minimum contrast ratio required for readability.

Google announced this dark theme for search results on the desktop through the official support website. They also mentioned that the dark mode feature has been started rolling to users starting 9th Sep.

Google first started testing the Dark Mode feature for Google Search on the desktop back in December 2020. Google Search on Mobile has had Dark Mode since May 2020. If you are really excited to try google search in dark mode then follow the below steps carefully.

How to activate Google Search Dark Theme

Here’s how it works:

  1. Open google.com on your browser
  2. Go to the search settings located at the bottom right corner
  3. Tap on setting and you will find the option to enable/disable dark theme.

Now anything you search from chrome will open in dark background. This was a long-due update from google which came a little late though.
