New Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition launched in India

As promised to bring Kindle with new navigation and UI changes, Amazon India has quietly introduced a new Kindle. The new 11th-gen Kindle Paperwhite and the Paperwhite Signature e-readers have a larger display, longer battery life, higher brightness level.

So before going into availability and pricing details let’s first go through the key features of Amazon Kindle Paperwhite and Signature edition e-readers.

Kindle Paperwhite, Paperwhite Signature Edition Launched in India

Starting with the display, both the Kindle Paperwhite and Paperwhite Signature Edition come with a 6.8-inch display with 300ppi. The company claims to have a 20% brighter display compared to the previous editions.

With support for USB type C charging this edition has a battery backup of up to 10 weeks. Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition also comes with a compatible Qi wireless charger which is sold separately.

One of the key differences between the Paperwhite and the Signature edition is that the latter features an automatic light adjustment sensor to adjust the brightness of the display based on the environmental lighting conditions. It is a feature that was previously present only on the Kindle Oasis models.

Kindle Paperwhite has 8GB of storage capacity whereas Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition comes with 32GB of storage, which means more space for your favorites.

Both Kindle Paperwhite and Signature Edition are IPX8 rated to protect against accidental immersion in up to two meters of fresh water for up to 60 minutes, and up to 0.25 meters of seawater for up to 3 minutes. Furthermore, there are no 4G-supported models of the new 11th-gen Paperwhite models. They only come with Wi-Fi support.

Now, coming to the price of the latest Kindle e-readers, the standard Kindle Paperwhite with 8GB of storage is priced at Rs. 13,999, while the higher-end Signature Edition will sell for Rs. 17,999 in India.

As of now the scheduled date to release kindle paperwhite is October 27 and the Signature Edition is slated to go on sale starting from November 4 in the country. Currently, pre-orders are on so you can register for pre-order from the above-given links.
