Youtube is the largest video streaming platform on the planet and probably in the universe, assuming only planet earth has life. Though Facebook and even Instagram are putting their effort to compete but seriously, they are nowhere close to Youtube. Youtube popularity has also gone up in India due to the telecom rivalry between JIO & Airtel.
Youtube, a Google-owned company, has few very irritating things. One of them is that you cannot play youtube videos when the screen is off. As soon as the screen is switched off, the video gets paused. The active mobile screen can sometimes be very irritating to your eyes or the passenger traveling with you. At times you want to listen to your favorite news or comedy shows while the screen is off, but youtube wouldn’t let you do that.

Method 2: Using Android Application
Newpipe is the miracle app, but sadly it’s not available on Google play store for obvious reasons (Google-owned Playstore will never allow this kind of app). Instead, you require an alternative app store F-Droid. Make sure to enable app installation from unknown sources.
Visit the F-Droid website, download and install this app in your device. This is a regular app store similar to Google Playstore. Initially, this app will download the necessary files, so let it download. Once the download is finished, you can search NewPipe in the search box and install it.
NewPipe app will look almost like youtube without any annoying ads. You can browse & search like regular youtube. Search for your favorite video and open it. You will find different options below the video; one of them is the background option () which you are looking for.Tap on the background () option, and now the video will play on the lock screen and even when the phone is switched off.
You can play youtube video when the screen is off without these workarounds by only getting a youtube premium subscription. Youtube premium subscription comes with many additional benefits. But not everyone can afford it and also it’s not worth to get a subscription just for this.
